3 Things To Do Before the New Year

December 15, 2017

The end of 2017 brings a lot of excitement in terms of parties and fresh starts. We also start to think about all the things we didn’t do or scramble to complete all the things we need to do before the New Year. We all want to enter the New Year with enthusiasm and an optimistic attitude but sometimes it can be difficult to reach that state of clarity. Before you leap into the New Year, do these three things to prepare yourself.

Celebrate Your Wins

Think about it, what accomplishments are you the most proud of this year? Maybe you finally ran your first 5k, finished a home improvement project, or improved your overall health. You should celebrate yourself with more than just a pat on the back! Treat yourself to a day of relaxation, binge watch a TV series, or get yourself something that makes you happy.

Create New #Personal Resolutions

You accomplished a lot this year but there is always something else to do, learn, or improve. Your new goals can be as big as cutting out sugar completely, or as simple as spending more time with family and friends. Regardless of your goal, just take one step at a time to bring more balance and happiness into your life.

Get Rid of Things That Aren’t Working

Some of your goals didn’t pan out this year and that’s normal. Instead of focusing on what you didn’t accomplish, think about what was preventing you from achieving that goal. For example, you did not use your gym membership because getting up early is not your thing. This coming year, try to go after work or go with a buddy. Getting rid of things that don’t work is a great practice in terms of adaptability.

Take some time to consider what you’ve accomplished, what you want to accomplish in the future, and what may have prevented you from reaching some goals this year before December 31st. You’ll be better prepared to dive into 2018!
