Dashin' for a Decade

September 11, 2018

“Contributing to the communities in which we work is an important part of our core values at OneDigital,” says Elizabeth Chrane, EVP of People & Culture. “Celebrating ten years of the Digital Dash is so exciting to all of us and we look forward to continuing the tradition year after year.”

The week before we go on vacation with family and friends for Labor Day weekend, our corporate office and neighboring locations meet up with metro-Atlanta locals for our annual 5K event. With this being our tenth anniversary of supporting local charities like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Big Bert’s Adventure and Safe Kids of Georgia, we had to find a way to take it to the next level. But, the action doesn’t start the day of the race.

Raising Money – Not Just Awareness

A new element to our fundraising efforts included OneDigital’s Pie Bids for the Kids event. Executives and managers set aside their ego for the day to get a pie in the face from employee willing to pay up. Because of our Atlanta team, and other leaders calling in to place a bid, we were able to add over $1000 to our check presentation later that month.

And where would we be without our sponsors? Our title sponsors, Humana and United Healthcare, were joined by more than thirty companies to contribute dollars, on-site refreshments and incredible raffle prizes. When all was said and done, we hosted 700 runners and presented a check of $75,000 to our local charities.

Where exactly does the money go? Last year’s donation of $60,000 funded 30 kids to attend summer camp, 26,000 pieces of safety equipment, 6,833 car seat safety checks, and 13 families to visit Walt Disney

A Localized Approach

This year, we were so excited to have four offices and regions run alongside us in their own communities. The Carolinas, Massachusetts, Connecticut and St. Louis invited their friends, families and clients to participate a 5K they hosted. While some made a map around their office, others made an event out of it by running in a local park and heading out to brunch afterwards.

The Future is Bright

While we really set the bar high for future Dashes, OneDigital is hoping to continue expanding the event across the country, involving more runners and sponsors and making a greater impact on every community we serve.

“The impact of this event goes beyond the final check presentation,” says Brittany Floyd, our director of Dash. “It creates a sense of community for our employees but, most importantly, we are able to provide experiences for children and families who would otherwise never have that opportunity. Every employee plays such a huge part in making this a success, and their efforts make my experience planning this event all the more rewarding.”
