Those are ongoing, complex, blood, sweat, and "can I actually make this happen" types of projects. Those are challenges we must rise to. And guess what? We did. AGAIN. And we'll do it again next year. It's just who we are. But let's not over simplify our ability to succeed. Because it's all the tiny things that you do day in and day out that add up to our phenomenal success. It's the handwritten note you sent to the consultant in IT that thanked them for their support. It's that day you held the elevator for your colleague who had a tough time getting to work that morning. It's your attention to the little things, like picking up the phone to clarify something that you could have done in an email. I saw this quote from my CrossFit Instagram page "And that is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time." That thought is so compelling to me — that when you really take a deeper look — organizational success is made up of millions of moments that aren't celebrated — they are the glue, the secret sauce that keeps our ability to get up every day and chase excellence on track. This year we introduced a new commercial strategy with the customer at the center, and we are placing big bets on crushing our goals. Our ability to deliver bold leadership in front of the customer, leveraging data-driven business intelligence via an effortless experience that is influenced by the voice of the customer is no small task. But — if we look at it in small, daily pieces — we will undoubtedly bring it to life — in a big way. Each of you play varying roles in the successful execution of our organizational goals—but all are important. Take a look at the challenge(s) in front of you for 2020 and resist the urge to worry about how you'll accomplish it before you've even begun. Take a good look at it. Consider it. Seriously — sometimes I look around, and I am in awe of this organization. Just look at what we have done! We've tackled a long list of challenges. What has your "this is tough to tackle" list looked like? If it looks like most of ours, it's not necessarily a list you've been able to cross off easily like the one you use at the grocery store.
