March - Be Present

March 2, 2020

As I prepare to share some thoughts with you this month, I must admit this has been a difficult message for me to write. Over the past few weeks, I’ve felt a full range of emotions. While we have so much to celebrate and so much to be proud of in our business, I also know that, at any given time, we have team members struggling personally with illness, sadness, painful events or loss. This reality became evident to me this past month as a few members of our OneDigital family lost loved ones. One of these events hit painfully close to home as a co-worker and close friend unexpectedly lost a son. I mourn deeply for their loss and pray daily for their strength and healing.

In addition to the deep sadness, events like this also offer profound perspective and an opportunity to take a step back and recognize the love that surrounds our lives. I have been inspired by the strength of this family and the outpouring of love and support I have seen from friends and the community that surrounds them. I’ve also been reminded of the wonderful family we have here at OneDigital and the care and support we provide each other in times of need. It truly is special, so much more than just a business, and I’m extremely grateful for what we have.

It’s a tragic way to be reminded of all that we have to be thankful for and to make sure we don’t take anything for granted. As a father, I now find myself being more present and grateful every day for the time I have with my family and friends.  I’m pretty sure that I’m driving my wife and boys crazy with daily calls to check in, to see how their days are going and to tell them I love them.

Team, please join me by trying to be more intentional and present in your daily lives. We all live extremely busy lives and there are so many things that distract us from being focused on the people right in front of us. Screens everywhere, phones ringing, texts buzzing… it’s easy to get sidetracked or not be fully present. Unfortunately, time is something that we can never get back so it’s important to appreciate all the gifts that we have in life – our health, our work, our friends and, especially, our family.

I’d like to use this month’s message to remind you to take time today to Be Present, to connect with the people you care about and tell them you love them.  Cherish the moments you have and make the most of them.

I’m so grateful for all of you and all we have at OneDigital. We have so much to be thankful for but life can change in an instant, so please take advantage of today and Be Present!
